Reading Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Big Magic” (thanks Sammy!) I was struck by her response to her inner critic who asks who do you think you are to be creative:
“It’s funny you should ask,” you can reply. “I’ll tell you who I am: I am a child of God, just like anyone else. I am a constituent of this universe. I have invisible spirit benefactors who believe in me, and who labor alongside me. The fact that I am here at all is evidence that I have the right to be here. I have a right to my own voice and a right to my own vision. I have a right to collaborate with creativity, because I myself am a product and a consequence of Creation. I’m on a mission of artistic liberation, so let the girl go.”
I LOVE the invisible benefactors feeling. As I write this I can ask what would WE like to offer today and in the asking let my body create the relaxed space to actually feel the presence of the ineffable inner coaches who have access to wisdom and Knowing far beyond my little bubble.
Can you feel your benefactors?
It’s a physiological alignment; an elevated spaciousness that’s wide open and curious.
It’s a quiet willingness to open to a different language and surrender the willful ambition to make something happen.
It’s an allowing for a different paradigm than what the world currently believes.
What’s possible when you invite your spirit benefactors along for the ride today and ask them to show you a different landscape?
